Week 23: Exercising Faith in Times of Trial
Kumusta po sa bawat lahat! Hello everyone! Kam nabane ni mauri buong week samin so brang masayer kase.
We have meet new peoples. We talk with them on the jeepney, on the road, inside the store, in the bush, and last in the river. So from Tuesday to Friday we been tracting in our areas. We find new peoples. We explain ourselves that we are the representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of them don't really know us and others just know the missionaries of the CLDS. We visited with some new investigators beside those that we had before. We started BRT with them building relationship and trust. We hand them the pamplet of the Family Can Be Together Forever. We ask them if we could visit them. They say they only have Sunday free day because they work in the store. The peoples life here is kinda hard because if they don't work, they will have no electric, have no water, or even food to eat.
Nanay Linda Garcia is doing the reading commitment we been given her on 1 Nephi 1-16. She is also able to explain what she had learn from the good example of Nephi and his harden heart brothers Laman and Lemuel. Beside that we been extending our invitation with her and invite her to attend church. Her concern is that she is afraid to loose friends and also she is seemed that she could find joy as she read the Book of Mormon. She already says that she do believe it. We know that the spirit of God will help her and touch her heart if she keeps on reading it.
We also have a new investigator named Neiaan. She is living in a small hut and have no children. Her husband always go to work. As we get inside her house, we could see that the roof is not completed yet means we can see the naked sky above. We ask her what happened. She say that it is after the massive typhoon last month. So we ask her if she tell her husband that we are happy to help them. Not because we want to teach them but because we love them. Their stuff get wet when it raining.
So yesterday, we been visiting one member who has been inactive for almost 2 months. As we visited her, we shared Helaman 5:11, "And he hath power given unto him from the Father to redeem them from their sins because of repentance; therefore he hath sent his angels to declare the tidings of the conditions of repentance, which bringeth unto the power of the Redeemer, unto the salvation of their souls". Her name is Rachel with two gorgeous kids. After our prayer and sharing with her, we could see her concentrating on our message and the 7 year old with the small baby almost 6 or 7 months. We ask her to close us with a prayer and after that we tell her what is her problem that she never come to church. She says that she has many problems after the typhoon. Her home is been destroyed and now they have a new small simple house. Her husband work hard for them. So she also tell us that she had been praying to attend church but she felt ashamed after not coming for many weeks. Now she was so happy that we could visit her and she promise to come to church next Sunday. As we leave, her son shouted to her Mum "Gusto ko" I REALLY WANT TO HEAR FROM THEM! TELL THEM TO COME BACK AGAIN. So we smile and say yes we will plan to come here and visit you again. So we returned back happily.
I just wanted to share some new favorite text I found in my personal study. I know that sometimes when we face a lot of problems in life that we cannot imagine, we started to blame God has forsaken us. I want to tell you all that it is not our problems that can separate us from Heavenly Father. We are to exercise our faith in every trials we face in life because we will still have more trials to face in our whole life. God given us faith and hope in his son, Jesus Christ's atonement. If we continue to move forward in faith, we may overcome many more trials and it will help our lives become more easy. God has a plan for each on of us. He is really cared for us and he knows our sorrows and failures. He wants us to have a happy life in this life. So let's always remember Him in every time of trial in our life. He always listen to us if we communicate with Him in prayer with faith hapoing that he will answer us. We can be success in this life.
I wanted to share some new text I found in my study in reading the Book of Mormon. First, Alma 37: 35-37 " O, remember my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God. Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever. Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day."
Also Matthew 19:26, "But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
