Week 28: Zone Conference

Kumusta,
This week is another awesome week and it's kind of challenging.  Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday but that is not important.  It's a little hard but time flies!  Haha!!  Adjusting to the trials I am still facing each and every day really makes me strong.  I can tell you that as I am 25% completed in my mission.

The best moment was Friday, Zone Conference with half the Legazpi missionaries.  Everyone came except the islanders.  The workshop was led by President Abraham and the zone leaders.  Guess what . . .we had a workshop on Preach My Gospel Chapter 6:  Christlike Attributes.  He pointed out two pondered questions one day before the workshop.  1)  How has the Book of Mormon helped us in the mission field? 2)  How can we help others have the same experience?  He shared D&C 29:7, "And ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts."  and D&C 64:37, "Behold I, the Lord, have made my church in these last days like unto a judge sitting on a hill, or in a high place, to judge the nations.  Jacob 5:22, "And the Lord of the vineyard said unto him:  Counsel me not; I knew that it was a poor spot of ground; wherefore, I said unto thee, I have nourished it this long time, and thou beholdest forth much fruit".  We are called to go and labor with all our might.  Am I going and laboring with all my might?

President Russell M Nelson talks - how can we labor ourselves for Jesus.  To sum up the whole workshop, it shows in the graph that we are near the 40's in baptisms.  President Abraham says that we can get to the zone miracle if we live the four foundations in the Legazpi Mission.  We had 7 baptisms in December and January goes up to 25 in one month.  The baptism graph pattern fluctuated.  We are reaching the 40 baptisms right now.  We need to make sure we are in line and keep continuing to put our lines in the sea which means finding new peoples and converts.  The four foundations of the Legzapi Mission are 1)  We seek to live the doctrine of Christ, 2)  We seek to be clean in all things, 3)  Building Divine Companionships, and 4)  Work with members to baptize new converts.  Not forgetting Sister Abraham - she is really concerned about our health and safety.  She gave us important talks about how we can keep healthy and stay safe.

So on Saturday and Sunday, we find new investigators in San Jose.  We met the Besmonte family.  She is really interested in our message and we are able to share with her 18 year old daughter.  We were able to talk with Nanay Linda.  She is just coming back from the hospital and she said that her hapo (granddaughter) doctor found out that she have no more kidney stones in her kidney since her last check up before she gets to a surgery.  It is a miracle and she is so grateful to us for helping her to pray about her family and her sick hapo.  She also tell us that she started putting her favorite text she finds in the Book of Mormon so that her sons will get to read it.  We are still looking forward to visit her and although she is living far that it is not easy for her to attend church but as she keep reading the Book of Mormon and her faith will get strengthened.

I just wanted to say personally that we are here on Earth to help gather the scattered Israel before Christ comes with missionary work.  Though we will face many challenges in our life, this is how Jesus Christ faced his time on this earth.  As he has overcome all things, pains and trials, which means we can overcome it too.  How can we overcome?  We are subjected to temptations, pains, and sickness with rejections as humans but always remember that the atonement of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us can help us overcome these trials.  Heavenly Father loves us.  That is why he allows us to face these trials so that we can get stronger and grow.  He understands our weaknesses and rejoices in our efforts.

If I look back at the past 6 months, I can say here personally that mission life is hard but it's worth it because it had an impact on me.  I am glad to say that there is no other joy you can find in missionary work.  I love everyone and thank you all for the support emails.  This is my home now.  I am fully converted being a missionary.  Keep doing the Lord's work in helping others and press forward with faith.
