Week 89: Obedience Brings Blessings

Good morning po sa inyo,      This week was really good and uplifting.  My companion and I did things so we are striving to become more obedient.  We also had some cool experiences in traveling.  We see the tender mercies of God and how we are all safe.  I just wanted to share some other impressions from this week.  We visited Tatay Garcia and he's a devoted Catholic member who lost his wife last month.  We are trying to always help him feel the spirit as we often invite in the spirit in living the four foundations of the Legazpi Mission.  He also has daughters who are in school and were interested to listen to more about the gospel.  We are taking it slowly little by little according to the understanding that he has in his religion.        We also called on the Pamugas Family and they are recent converts.  Last night I was able to introduce myself to Nanay Jocelyn and her sister Abigail along with one ...

Week 88: Waiting For a Cyclone

Image
Good morning po,       Hello everyone.  It's been one week since I have written to you because I have been transfered to my new last area.  I am in Daraga 2nd and I received a new assignment as a supply Elder.  I have been working with my companion.  He was my companion in my 4th area and now we are companions again.  Last week we visited some of the members and I introduced myself.  Some of them we taught lessons.  We have a baptism this coming week which we are worried about because we are on lockdown here.  It just started and it is going to be for 2 weeks is what we heard this morning.        I am writing my letter as it is starting to rain again.  Last night we were instructed by our Mission Leaders to take care and be careful because there's a cyclone crossing the ocean where Legazpi is located.  Some other areas like Bulan will get much more storm than we will.  We will get r...

Week 86: Tatay Randy Got Baptized

Image
Hello po everyone magandang umaga po saindong gabos      The work here in Polangui is progressing and the members here are progressing also.  Especially the youth, they often minister to all their inactive youth and other members.  Some active Relief Society sisters also minister by visiting the women and the other families every Sunday.        We did have a baptism last Saturday.  We baptized Tatay Randy and he looks so happy and excited for the upcoming everlasting joy as he will continue keeping his covenants.  He's living very close to the chapel and was so curious to know more and more but we told him as you keep your baptismal covenants,  you will understand more and more as we will come back for new member lessons but don't worry.  All the members have sustained you in raising their right hands to support you as well as the missionaries.  He works at the Army and luckily we are able to help him to re...

Week 80: How Can I Follow the Promptings of the Holy Ghost More Effectively?

Image
Last week we have been finding referrals and it was cool.  We were able to find so many.  I was so happy that my junior companion is able to explore most of our area.  This week we have been offering service to some of the members and inactive members.  The coolest thing is that we are able to work and do service work.  We brought some of our clothes for service and when we see that there's something that we can offer for a service, we just change our clothes and get to work.         We also have a set date to baptize Tatay Randy on March 10th which is so exciting for us.  We are continuing to work hard because it's so challenging for us and them.  We do also have some progressing investigators that need more work and prayers.  Sister Via is one of our investigators who is still trying to keep some of the commitments.  This Sunday she attended church.  We were able to find Sister Regina and o...

Week 79: Tatay Randy Gets Married and Welcome to Elder Francisco

Image
Hello everyone.  I am sorry that I didn't have time to write to you last week.  Well, let's go - I have a new companionship and this is his first area.  His name is Elder Francisco.  It's kind of a challenge to me as well but we are getting along with this small missionary from Nuevas Kaya.  The work here is progressing and we have seen some tender mercies this week.  So yesterday, Tatay Randy got married as well as John Rivera.  Besides that we have found some inactive members this week which is way cool.  I have been doing such great highlights in some other ways with my companion and trying to explore the area with him.  We also have had extra time to study and pray often.        So if you know something about the foreigners who are stuck in the Philippines, they are going to leave next week.  I am the only one left in Legazpi Mission.  I felt lonely but I have trust and faith in Him. ...

Week 77: I Love the Polangui Area

Kam na bane ni mauri tariu ao maneu n te bon ae nang tamoaroa aio.      The work is getting slow but not too slow.  We are trying our best to start again after last week.  We had mission tour and we received an invitation from Elder Wakolo to double our baptism numbers and extend our invitation to those people we have been teaching in our area.  Last Thursday, we had a district council meeting and we set a goal to have 10 baptisms this February.  So, this is what we are looking forward to even though the work is getting so slow but we are trying to move forward.        This Sunday I was able to give a talk in the Polangui Branch.  I was able to talk about mission work.  I was so happy that my talk was going great.  I was taglish and I could see that everyone was beaming.  I am so grateful that this is the first time I have given a talk and it was really great.  My talk basically focused on D&C...
